HMS Warspite and destroyers at Narvik
HMS WARSPITE IN THE SECOND BATTLE OF NARVIK

After the first battle of Narvik, a significant number of German destroyers - in fact almost a third of the Kriegsmarine's entire destroyer force - were trapped, low on fuel, 100 miles up the fjord. On April 13 1940, the battleship HMS Warspite, together with the Royal Navy destroyers Bedouin, Cossack, Eskimo, Forester, Foxhound, Hero, Icarus, Kimberley, and Punjabi, entered Vestfjord to hunt down the remaining German warships.
